Reviews from Opera in the Heights's La Boheme have come out:
Alyssa "acted as impressively as [she] sang, and [she] sang magnificently, as ... the lovely thorn in [Marcello's] side", according to the Houston Press.
The Houston Chronicle said "Alyssa Bowlby distinguished Musetta with her bright, clean singing and vivacious characterization."
According to Houston Arts Week, "Alyssa Bowlby, who wowed us some time back as Nanetta in Verdi’s Falstaff, hits Act II’s humfest known as 'Musetta’s Waltz' (“Quando men vo”) right out of the park."
Check out samples from Alyssa's collaboration with John Palmer - these live recordings sound great (even from a distance on her IPod - thanks Jordan :)!

Alyssa's stay in Houston is going extremely well - Maestro Weibel just offered her THREE ROLES, keeping her in Houston till 2013! She will sing her dream role, Konstanze in Abduction from the Seraglio, in November 2012, Amina in La Sonnambula in March 2013, and then join the all-Verdi celebration in 2013-2014 as Violetta in La Traviata! On top of that, she will be on the radio on March 31, 2010 at 12p to promote Boheme, will be making a ton of outreach appearances, and will be returning to Houston as part of BravissimOH! on June 3.
La bohème at Opera in the Heights opened last week! Alyssa is singing Musetta every night; performances will be April 1, 2, 3, 8, 9 and 10. Buy tickets now - performances are almost all sold out!
Happily, Alyssa will return in November 2010 as Adele in Die Fledermaus and as Despina in Così fan tutte in March 2011.
Right before she left for Houston, Alyssa was offered the role of Abigail Williams in Robert Ward's The Crucible in October 2010. She could not be more excited!
Such good news on all fronts operatique comes on the heels of the four recitals she recently scheduled: The first was Houston on March 28, 2010 at 2pm - an intimate affair with visual artist John Palmer. On April 7, 2010, she will perform at Lambert Hall for a select audience, in a reshaped version of her John Palmer program, including a duet with tenor David Guzman. Then on May 13, 2010, she will perform a recital with fellow Peabody grad John Chernoff at Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA. When she returns to NYC, she will perform on a chamber music recital featuring the music of Mohammed Fairouz and Kaija Saariaho on May 19, 2010 at the Players Theatre.

Alyssa got a great review following her performance as Nannetta with Opera in the Heights in Houston, TX! "Through most of the early going, Crystallia Spilianaki as Alice Ford and Dawn Padula as Meg Page gathered the limelight, but later on it was it was Alyssa Bowlby as Nannetta. By the time we reach Act III, we may not really want an entire aria sung by someone pretending to be someone else in the woods, but Bowlby sang that aria beautifully – and earned one of the evening’s most heartfelt 'Bravas.'"
